Be Ready for Chinese New Year

If you source products from China, then it’s important to understand the ins-and-out of the Chinese New Year. The Chinese New Year will bring a halt to businesses across most of China.

But don’t worry!

Here are some of the tips from DSers for you to take and prevent the potential complications for your e-Commerce business.

When Is Chinese New Year 2021

This year’s Chinese New Year will take place on February 12th. Similar to the Christmas and New Year holiday season in western countries, suppliers in China usually take a week off to spend time with their family. Therefore, most manufacturers will shut down during this time.

Chinese New Year - DSers

This year the official holiday in China will start from February 11th – February 17th. But keep in mind that some suppliers and manufacturers will extend their holiday a week earlier or later.

What to Do to Ensure Inventory and Delivery Time

1. Contact your sellers to learn about their working schedule and see if it can affect your supply chains.

2. Ask for current inventory. Many manufacturers will have enough inventory in stock so that they could continue selling during the time off.

3. Notify your store visitors about the changes in processing and delivery times based on the accurate information you learn from your suppliers.

Some Other Solutions

1. Change your products to pre-sale so that the customers would expect a longer processing time of the orders.

2. Hide the products that will delay for a long time temporarily from your customers.

3. Remind your customers via emails of delays after they placed their orders.

4. Respond patiently to your customer inquiries about the delays.

5. It’s better to be proactive than reactive. Take the initiative to let your customers know of any delays.

6. Use DSers Supplier Optimizer to replace a new supplier that will operate during the holiday.
